API Terms of Use

Last updated: April 23, 2026

1. API Access

Access to the EV API is granted upon account creation. Your API key is confidential and must not be shared, published, or embedded in client-side code. You are responsible for all API calls made with your key.

2. Rate Limits

API calls are rate-limited to 120 requests per minute per account. Exceeding this limit will result in HTTP 429 responses. Enterprise plans with higher limits are available upon request.

3. Usage

You may use the API to:

  • Submit AI-generated outputs for risk assessment and expert review
  • Retrieve review results and audit trails
  • Manage account balance, webhooks, and API keys
  • Retrieve usage statistics

You may not use the API to:

  • Submit content unrelated to AI output verification
  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically download review data for competitive purposes
  • Stress-test or benchmark the API without prior authorization
  • Resell API access to third parties without a reseller agreement

4. Data Handling

Submitted outputs: AI outputs you submit are processed by our risk engine and may be shared with expert reviewers for human verification. Do not submit outputs containing unredacted PHI (Protected Health Information), PII (Personally Identifiable Information), or other sensitive data unless you have appropriate data processing agreements in place.

Review results: Results are stored and accessible via your API key. Audit records are retained for a minimum of 7 years.

5. SLA

EV targets 99.9% API uptime. Expert review SLAs are based on urgency tier:

  • Standard: < 24 hours
  • Fast: < 1 hour
  • Realtime: < 5 minutes
  • Critical: < 2 minutes

SLAs are targets, not guarantees. If a review is not completed within the SLA window, it will expire and the charge will be refunded to your balance.

6. Webhooks

Webhook endpoints must be HTTPS. EV will deliver webhook payloads with a shared secret for verification. Failed deliveries will be retried up to 3 times with exponential backoff. Webhook logs are retained for 30 days.

7. Versioning

The API is currently at v1. Breaking changes will only be introduced in new versions. We will provide at least 90 days notice before deprecating any API version.

8. Liability

EV is not responsible for decisions made based on API results. The Service supports human oversight workflows but does not guarantee regulatory compliance, accuracy of expert reviews, or fitness for any particular purpose.

9. Suspension

EV may suspend API access for: abuse, non-payment, security concerns, or violation of these terms. We will notify you before suspension when possible.
